pancakes

Dane and I visited Pancakes on the Rocks this past week.  This is a restaurant we've been wanting to try out since we got to Sydney.  Their speciality, obviously, is pancakes, and they do them well.  I am including a link on the history of the restaurant, mainly for Papa Wutke, because we know how you like your history, but maybe a few of the rest of you will enjoy the read as well.  pancake history.

So clever!

Dane's Order: Devil's Delight Pancakes

Christy's Order: Brandied Apricot Pancakes

And of course, we finished our meal with a hot chocolate.   We loved our pancakes, but want to go back and try plain ol' buttermilk next time.  We feel that is the true test of any pancake.  Yes, Pancakes on the Rocks, we will be returning soon!

282 days ♥

Please hang with me while a gush for a little bit.  I came to the realization today that Dane and I have been married for 282 days.  Not every day has been glorious, lovey-dovey, or easy, but I am so so so thankful for this man in my life.  God has blessed me with the perfect partner in crime to do life with.  When I think back on the past 282 days I realize all of the amazing experiences we have been there for each other, supporting one another, cheering one another on.

Like on day 92 we said goodbye to our friends and family and took off for a life changing experience.

On day 108 I watched Dane audition for Hillsong College.

On day 117 we began serving together at Greater West Hillsong Church.

On day 136 we thanked God for provision in our lives.

On day 143 God spoke to Dane about a car coming into our lives in the future.  We continue praying into this promise.

On day 145 we bandaged Dane's ankle.  We would continue doing this for 30 more days.

On day 161 we celebrated the freedom Jesus brought into my life.

On day 172 Dane had to wipe my tears. He does this a lot for me.

On day 195 we enjoyed dinner with new friends.

On day 207 I turned 30 with my best friend by my side.

On day 224 we started a new tradition, nestler day.

On day 232 we were anointed as a couple and a prayer of blessing and financial freedom was prayed over us.

On day 245 we discovered the world's largest mammals in the Pacific Ocean.

And on day 279 Dane brought me home just because flowers.

Today, on day 282, we snuggled to stay warm as our bedroom got down to 41 degrees in the night, we got a new housemate from South Africa, and are having our friend Nick from Thailand come over and teach us how to make one of my favorite dishes, Pad Thai.

Every single day with you Dane is a blessing.

save the date.

I wast thrilled today to see this:

Yes, if you look, that is Hillsong coming to Wichita, Kansas on September 23.  They will also be in Kansas City on September 24.    I just want to encourage you to go and see them live!  You will absolutely love love love it.  Plus you will get a bit of a taste of what Dane and I are up to down here in Australia and what our church is like.  They will be doing a lot of songs from the new Cornerstone album.  If you haven't picked that up yet, you should.  It is so good!

If you are interested in tickets, they will go on sale July 20th.  Simply click here.  It is a worship experience you will remember the rest of your life!

Love you all!

my first kangaroo and other exciting moments in life.

It has finally happened, Dane and I have finally seen our very first kangaroos of our entire lives, but more on that later.  Dane and I decided to enjoy our days off by taking a trip to Taronga Zoo.

We enjoyed our ferry ride to Taronga.  I do love ferry rides!

Eric, this deer made me think of you!

Our first exhibit was truly Aussie.  Koalas!  Koalas seem to be drunk all of the time, but really their bodies are working hard to digest the gum leaves that they eat.  Digestion of gum leaves is hard work, so it makes them very sleepy, not drunk :)

This guy is scratching his behind with his ginormous claws.  Just made me smile.

Of course I stayed away from this part, and went on to see the next set of amazing creatures!

These birds were eating the giraffe poop!  Once again, a moment I couldn't help but smile!

Dane was having a stare down with this kitty.

I was laughing all day, because we enjoyed "humanizing" the animals.  We would make voices and tell stories about what they were thinking, doing, saying.  I really like that Dane and I both find joy in this.

Ummm...this is just a bit of camera envy :)  For you Logan.

Had to be the oldest animals at the zoo.  Pretty cool if you ask me!

Here it is folks, the Tazmanian Devil.  It looks nothing like you expected huh?

AND NOW MAY I INTRODUCE....THE KANGAROOS!!!!

We were pretty excited about that. We even walked around in the cage with them.

And we walked in a cage with this guy, but it scared me because emus at the Clay Center zoo are quite vicious creatures.

And then we got to what I believe was both Dane and my favorite part of the day.  The chimps.

And then, this happened!

Our day ended at the zoo with a skyline trip through the trees.  This part is free with your zoo admission ticket.  A really fun mode of transportation!

We hope you have enjoyed our day at Taronga Zoo.  Such a wonderful day of fun memories made!
